Leading accountancy and business advisory firm Baker Tilly is to merge with Bath-based Richardson Groves which will double the size of its Bath office which also serves its north and west Wiltshire client offering.

The combined businesses will continue to serve the area with Richardson Groves’ staff transferring to Baker Tilly’s offices at Charter House over the coming weeks.

This is the second merger for Baker Tilly in the South West in the last 12 months and demonstrates the firm’s continuing commitment to both clients and the business community in the South West. Both Baker Tilly and Richardson Groves have had a longstanding presence in the region and this transaction further strengthens the service offering to clients of both firms.

Richardson Groves has over 25 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses and high net worth private clients and its strategy fits well with Baker Tilly, which also has a strong reputation for advising listed companies, particularly on AIM. The merged business will continue to focus on these core areas with both firms providing complementary benefits to clients and intermediaries across the South West.

Commenting on the merger, Ruth Foreman, office managing partner at Baker Tilly in the South West, said: “Merging with Richardson Groves substantially increases Baker Tilly’s offering for Bath, and beyond and will allow us to continue to grow our business in the South West. Richardson Groves is highly regarded by the local business community and the team has excellent knowledge and experience across its core areas of operation. We believe that our clients and staff will reap the benefits of combining the businesses as we capitalise on the opportunities for long term success.

Peter Groves, managing partner of Richardson Groves added:
“Merging with a national firm that already has a strong local presence will provide opportunities to maximise the potential for both clients and staff alike. The skill sets of partners and staff complement each other, giving additional breadth and depth and will enhance the overall client service offering.”
