Azets acquires Dorset medical accountancy firm

Accountancy and business advisory firm Azets has announced it has agreed a deal to acquire Dorset-based medical accountancy firm Sandisons.

Sandisons was originally founded in 1978, adopting its current name in 2004. Its team of 50 work for more than 160 GP practices and 2,000 medical professionals including GPs and consultants, mostly across Wales and the South of England.

The acquisition, Azets’ fourth in seven months, strengthens its presence in Wales and South West England, taking the number of GP practices it works for up to 350.

David Owens, regional chief executive at Azets, said: "Sandisons has spent many years establishing its specialism in the medical sector and is known for providing a first-class service to GPs, medical practices and SME businesses.

"The NHS environment is undergoing significant change and, whilst the number of GP practices is declining, their size and complexity is increasing.

"The clients need increasingly sophisticated advice which non-specialist accountants can no longer provide."

Sandisons, which wil rebrand to Azets, will now offer broader accounting, tax, audit, advisory and business services but will continue to be lead by the same four partners and will retain all fifty of its staff.
