Worcestershire reveals further £2.4 million support for small businesses innovation
A further £2.4 million has been secured to support businesses and innovators in Worcestershire.
The funding will go to Worcestershire Innovation (WINN), the highly successful programme supporting local businesses and innovators.
The programme provides businesses with a route to local and national support available to innovators including Innovate UK, Catapult Centres and universities and offers expert advice, giving companies the opportunity to collaborate within a trusted environment and access to critical grant finance.
This extra amount has been provided by the European Regional Development Fund and brought the total funding in the programme to £7.5m.
WINN, led by Worcestershire County Council in partnership with Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) helps local businesses access funding, generate ideas and provide help to support infrastructure. Innovation.
Worcestershire County Councillor, Dr Ken Pollock, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure said: “I am delighted our WINN programme has secured extra funding. The scheme provides Worcestershire businesses with fantastic support and this financial boost will allow even more organisations to receive our help.”
Sue Crow, Economic Growth and Investment Manager, said: “The WINN project has already made a huge impact on the companies it has supported, helping Worcestershire businesses to grow and develop.
This new announcement is great news, particularly in the testing times we’re all currently experiencing, continuing to support innovation in the local economy is remains important. This new fundng will enable us to provide the support that companies need to help them to diversify, introduce new products and processes, access expert advice and obtain vital grant support.”
WINN has a growing community of 1200 businesses and innovators in the county. The programme helps organisations increase knowledge, share ideas and use available resources to compete in new markets both nationally and internationally.
