Worcester barber develops clever queuing app

Barbers, beauty salons and hair dressers are some of the worst Coronavirus-affected businesses. But one Worcester barber has developed a neat answer: MyQsafe, a virtual queuing system.

Ellis Campbell began work on the app as soon as his barber shop on Broad Street in the city got closed down on March 23.

The app has been designed for any business offering a walk-in service.

"It's been designed so we can all get back to work as quickly as possible with minimal disruption, and most important – as safely as possible," he said.

The app can be downloaded for free and the business can scan a customer's unique QR code to join the virtual queue.

The customer can then go shopping, grab a coffee, then head back when the business contacts them.

It costs each business which subscribes, £25 per month. They receive a unique QR code which they can put in their shop window.

Ellis said he has had some interest from larger stores, including department stores, as well as the smaller businesses he first envisaged.
