Andrew Durrant has been appointed as the executive director of place at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.

The appointment was made following a cross-party interview process. Durrant will start his role in Spring. He joins the council from Westminster City Council where he is director of community services, a post held since 2018.

Durrant says: “As a resident of the borough I am looking forward to working with councillors, officers and partners. I am passionate about the positive impact local government can make on people’s lives and I want to ensure that I deliver quality services that make a meaningful difference to our residents and visitors.”

Councillor Andrew Johnson, leader of the council, says: “Andrew will bring a wealth of knowledge to the role being a resident as well as in his previous roles at Westminster City Council. I am looking forward to working with him.

Durrant has been at Westminster City Council since 2003 when he started as a school sport partnership development manager. He then moved to the head of Westminster sports unit before being promoted to head of sport, leisure and wellbeing.

While at Westminster City Council, Andrew has been the communities lead during the Covid pandemic, implemented an inclusion and diversity action group, and delivered the development of new community facilities and local place services.

Durrant has been a resident of the borough since 2005.
