Wasps' players swing into action during Go Ape corporate event day

Wasps players swung into action and put were put to the test after tackling Coventry and Warwickshire’s brand new tree-top tourist attraction.

A team of the club’s academy players and staff went along to Go Ape at Coombe Abbey, along with other special guests for a special training session.

The course put the group through their paces on the Alpine zip wires, assault course and ‘The Plummet’ - a stomach-churning 12-metre vertical drop.

Other companies who took part in the event included Dafferns, Hawkins, Loveitts Estate Agents, Micheldever, Baader, Agco, FSB and NFU Mutual.

The Brinklow-based venue even got in its own medieval actors to test out the course in full costume.

Ron Terry, general manager at Coombe Abbey Hotel, which partnered with Go Ape to bring the course to Coombe Abbey Park, said it adds something a little different to corporate events.

“It was great to be able to showcase Go Ape not only as a tourist attraction, but in a completely different and memorable way to serve the corporate world,” said Ron.

“The hotel and Go Ape are now working together to bring a new dimension to conferences, meetings and business events.

“I want to thank everyone who came along to the day and tested their nerve on the course, and we hope to see more companies using Go Ape as the team-building asset that it clearly is.”

Go Ape at Coombe Abbey is open between 10am and 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Luke Parker, manager of the Go Ape site, added: “The site has been open for a number of weeks and is already proving popular with visitors, and hosting events such as this shows that we are a versatile venue that can be used for different purposes along the way.”
