The North and South terminals at Gatwick Airport are now able to receive Vodafone’s 5G network.

Vodafone’s 5G network has a number of advantages including supersonic speeds, increased capacity and greater reliability compared to 4G networks.

This also means that travellers will be able to make last-minute bookings and check the status of their flights much faster than before, easing the stress of travelling.

In addition to customers and travellers, airport staff and businesses within the airport’s terminals will be able to use Vodafone’s 5G network to help with their day-to-day operations.

Vodafone UK's Chief Network Officer, Andrea Dona, commented: “The arrival of Vodafone 5G across Gatwick will mean holidaymakers and business travellers will now have our fastest data coverage – perfect for downloading those boxsets and movies or last-minute work zoom calls and business emails before stepping on to the plane.

“Going forward, Vodafone 5G can also play an important part in Gatwick’s growth, supporting the technology the airport relies on to operate as well as the businesses based there.”

In a recent press release, Gatwick stated that they would become the first airport in the UK to offer such an extensive 5G service.

These new improvements to the airport’s mobile coverage has allowed their Arrivals and Departures Lounges to benefit from a more reliable service which enables passengers to download entertainment for long-haul flights.

The British telecommunications company has made some more improvements to their network, such as using the latest technology to increase coverage in towns and cities across the UK.
