University of Reading climbs to 169th in QS world rankings
The University of Reading has been placed among the world’s top 200 universities, placed at 169 equal, in the QS World University Rankings 2024.
Growing reputation among businesses and employers, and an increase in average research citations are among the trends that have propelled the University of Reading up the global league table.
The big increase means Reading has moved 60 places higher in the rankings, which have been revamped for 2024, and puts the University as the 26th highest-ranked UK university.

The new rankings method places new emphasis on sustainability, ranking Reading at 189 in the world, in line with the University’s institution-wide commitment to support environmental sustainability and to be a force for positive social change.
Professor Robert Van de Noort, vice-chancellor of the University of Reading, said: “Since our foundation nearly a century ago we have been a truly global university.
"I’m pleased that in this new assessment we are recognised as among the best universities in the world for our research and that our reputation among businesses and academics is growing.
