University of Reading breaks undergraduate acceptance record

The University of Reading has offered a record number of places to undergraduate students this year.

Over 5,000 students have have accepted places to begin courses in September, clearing the previous record by just about 11 places.

Clearing played a large part in the University's success, with over 100 places being offered to students through the process.

The university has predicted, as per the norm, that the number of enrolling students will be less come the start of the year.

Politics, economics and international relations, law, biological sciences, computer sciences and Henley Business School programmes were the most popular subject areas receiving Clearing offers.

Although most places are taken, there are still some available courses through clearing.

James Ackroyd, Director of Global Recruitment & Admissions, said: “2023 has been another strong year for Reading’s undergraduate programmes. It’s a great place to study and we are in high demand among school leavers.

“This has been our best market share of UCAS applicants in at least a decade, and has been followed by a very successful Clearing process, so far.”
