MKM Building Supplies, the UK’s largest independent builder’s merchant is opening a new branch in Wallingford, Oxfordshire this week creating 17 new jobs in the area, and bringing the total number of MKM branches to 80.

The 1.2acre site is based at Lupton Road, Wallingford and is designed to be a one-stop shop for both local building trade and retail customers.

MKM Wallingford is headed-up by two branch directors, Stephen Busby and Liam Baldwin.

Branch director, Stephen Busby who brings 43 years expertise to the role commented: “It’s our ambition to make MKM Wallingford the best one stop merchant in Oxfordshire and the point of reference for service levels locally. We are committed to creating a fantastic work environment for our new team, to ensure we retain the very best skills and people.”

Co-director, Liam Baldwin added, “This is a really exciting opportunity. DIY and home improvement is hugely in vogue and the local construction industry in Oxfordshire remains as robust as ever - with a combination of new build estates, repairs, maintenance and extensions. In business, the opportunities are always there if you listen to the market and adapt accordingly.”

David Kilburn, Founder of MKM Building Supplies, said:  “Our new branch in Wallingford offers great potential for MKM. Feedback from local business has been that the building industry in the area is buoyant with much new investment.

Our new team is very experienced, knows the local market inside out and has an in-depth understanding of what trade customers need – so we are really looking forward to the exciting opportunity this branch presents."
