Reading has made it into The Sunday Times' coveted Best Places to Live list for 2022.
Judges called the Berkshire town 'a millennial favourite' that's 'a place you can prosper and plan your future'. They picked out several stand-out features, including the town's lively craft brewing scene, its new indie cinema and the range of retail and restaurant options that it now boasts.
From a business perspective, investment in the area was mentioned, with the plethora of new business parks and offices being built factored in. Shinfield Studios, transports links, proximity to London and the quality of schools were also considered.
While the town's lively annual music festival might not interest all those residents that actually live in Reading, it certainly helps put the town on the map. Much more important to locals - and those considering moving there - is its jobs scene. For employment opportunities nationwide, Reading is unrivalled outside of London.
It's the first time Reading has made the esteemed list in a decade and certainly reflects the up-and-coming reputation that the area is becoming more and more known for.
