MediaTech marketplace The Room has expanded its client base and welcomed new partnerships

The Room, an influencer marketing platform, originally started out as a joint venture between Sky Sports host Alex Payne and marketing executive Tanya Hamilton-Smith.

Recently, the company achieved a 200% year over year growth and has expanded their client base by welcoming new partnerships with the brands Charlotte Tilbury, Red Bull and Virgin.

Some other well-known brands they currently work with are Mars, Odeon, size?, O2, Kind, Samsung and The View From The Shard.

The two have developed a proposition to bring together brands and influence in a marketplace solution to paid posts and different types of sponsored media.

The new and developed model has been designed to create an authentic experience where brands swap products and experiences in exchange for media created by influential people.

The company, with help from technology and private equity sector angel investors The FSE Group, raised investment from the TVB Growth Fund.

The Room's Co-Founder, Alex Payne said: “We are lucky enough to have an enviable and incredibly experienced group of shareholders around us who have all contributed to the success we’re seeing.

“Tanya and I are looking forward to the next, Global chapter of growth for The Room and gearing up to a Series A raise later this year.”

The TVB Growth Fund is an £11.3m investment funded by Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to support job creation and economic prosperity in the Berkshire region.

The Thames Valley Berkshire Funding Escalator provides all types of companies with loans and funding between the price bracket of £50,000 and £300,000 for employment opportunities.

Throughout the past two years The Room has been focusing on developing their global product and expanding their message about the importance of Brand Love across different sectors in the UK.

Equity Portfolio Manager at The FSE Group, Bradley Jones, commented: “Having known Alex & Tanya over the past few years before making an investment, we have been able to truly understand how the business has developed and professionalised its differentiation.

“As the world of social media develops, The Room is at the forefront of enabling brands to reach new customers through transparent authentic conversations in place of an influencer being paid to like a product.

“I am excited to continue to work with The Room team as they continue to scale the business through this next stage of growth.”
