Thames Valley: Whitley Stimpson among top-10 accountancy employers
Whitley Stimpson, one of the largest independent accountancy firms in the region with offices in Banbury, Bicester, High Wycombe and Witney, has been named as one of the top-10 accountancy employers in the country by Accountancy Age, the leading publication in the accountancy world, in its 2016 Best Employers survey.
Director Jonathan Walton said: “To be recognised as a nationwide leader in our industry is the icing on the cake for us. We have always invested in our staff through training and providing progressive career paths, and we are delighted to be named as one of the best employers, particularly as part of the survey was devoted to the opinions of our staff.
Kevin Reed, accountancy head of editorial at Accountancy Age, said: “Our Best Employer award process is robust and vigorous, so the top firms this year should be very proud that their employees think so highly of their workplace.”
Whitley Stimpson, was ranked as one of the top 100 practices in the country in an earlier Accountancy Age survey. It takes part in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ Higher Apprenticeship scheme to open up new ways for people to follow a career in accountancy. The firm is soon to announce the appointment of its first apprentice through this initiative.
Tracy Williams, Whitley Stimpson human resources manager, said: “We are noted for our investment in training and this route has been successful because those with ambition can earn while they learn higher business skills.”
