Pitmans, the leading dealmaking corporate law firm in the Thames Valley, has acted on behalf of ‘Dealer Group of the Year’ Ridgeway Group over its recent acquisition of Oxford’s Land Rover dealership. Making its first steps into the Land Rover brand, the acquisition of the Cumnor site from Hartwell plc for an undisclosed sum, will see the Group rebrand in the future to Ridgeway Land Rover.

The transaction, which was completed on May 29, was led by Pitmans automotive corporate partner, Stephanie Perry, assisted by commercial property partner Delphine Méhouas and various other specialists throughout the firm.

Ridgeway Group CEO John O’Hanlon said: “I am delighted with the advice and support given by Stephanie. She works extremely hard to complete deals and is a trusted adviser to us on legal matters, bringing commercial sense and practicality to our legal affairs. Ridgeway can’t recommend her enough.”

All staff from the Cumnor sight are expected to transfer to Ridgeway, increasing the company’s workforce to 1,100. The Ridgeway dealership has number of branches along the A34 corridor from Oxford to Southampton.

Commenting on the acquisition, O'Hanlan said: “The brand is in a strong position and we look forward to representing such a respected motor manufacturer in a territory we know well.”
