Tech Nation recently placed Reading at number four and Oxford and number nine in the UK for digital employment, and yet a major digital skills gap is expected to hit nationwide by 2017. ConnectTVT has taken on the task of revealing the true state of the Thames Valley’s digital skills.
Said a spokesman from Connect TVT: "Through the Thames Valley’s first Digital Skills Survey, we want to understand what the challenges and barriers are to developing a world-class digital workforce in our region. How do we grow talent? How do we attract next generation coders? How do we keep digital diamonds in the region?
"This impacts any Thames Valley business that has a digital function or skills needs within the organisation – from creative directors and graphic designers through to IT executives and electrical engineers. This your chance to have your say.
"Open to all, and confidential, the Digital Skills Survey will give us a right-here, right-now view of the digital needs within the Thames Valley – enabling us to shape the route map to closing the skills gap.
Louize Clarke, co-founder of ConnectTVT, said: “Digital skills will be at the heart of the region’s future competitiveness. If we want the Thames Valley to remain a region that’s synonymous with technology leadership, innovation and growth, we need to harness and shape the skills that enable this. Our Digital Skills Survey is the starting point for this.”
The survey takes less than five minutes and all respondents will be entered into a draw to win one of three mini iPads. The survey closes Friday April 10.
