Gardner Leader, the firm of solicitors with offices in Newbury, Thatcham and Maidenhead, has made it through to the finals for The Law Society Excellence Awards for Excellence in Client Service and the Halsbury Legal Awards for Business Development.

The Law Society is the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales, promoting the highest professional standards in law. In its 10th year, the awards are celebrating excellence in the profession and the Halsbury Legal Awards is recognising the exceptional and outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals, teams and organisations across the legal sector.

This year's Law Society Awards saw a record number of applicants. Gardner Leader was shortlisted for its strategic vision in client care and its continuous improvement program in always delivering an outstanding client experience. Its latest customer service initiatives include a new pricing system to give clients greater choice and flexibility in the way they can pay; investment in a new customer relationship management system to capture the interests and needs of its clients; and an employee engagement programme, for which the firm won a LawNet award last year.

Its continuous improvement programme was also the reason the firm was shortlisted for the Halsbury Legal Business Development Award. The programme, called Evolve, runs regular 'improvement cycles,' that review every aspect of the client experience from the moment they make contact so the firm is constantly evolving to meet specific client needs.

Derek Rodgers, managing partner of Gardner Leader, said: "We're delighted that our approach is now up for two highly prestigious legal awards. We have seen enormous growth in the business over the past five years and this ultimately comes down to the way we innovate and engage with our clients."

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremonies: The Halsbury Legal Awards on September 29 at Grosvenor House, London and The Law Society Excellence Awards on October 20 at the Hilton, Park Lane, London.
