Hillingdon Business Expo 2018 – which returned for its fourth year on May 31 at Brunel University London – welcomed more than 1,500 attendees and championed more than 110 businesses from the Borough, in what is one of the most significant business-to-business networking events in London and environs.

Beginning with a VIP business breakfast sponsored by Ward Williams LLP – attended by all exhibitors, key policy makers, and influential business people of the area – we were treated to a presentation by Tom Fudge, who is tackling sanitation in remote communities with a system that transforms wastewater in to fertilisers and recovers clean water. We also heard about the exciting new borrow-a-bike scheme in the area, supported by Santander.

Then, with the Expo open to the public, all exhibitors took up their stands and began a day of networking with the 1,500 attendees who came to learn more about business in the area. In addition to the wealth of advice and connections around the stands for existing business people, the Expo also galvanised startups and entrepreneurs with the offer of four workshops with the PopUp Business School – a series sponsored by Hillingdon Council, and one that was packed with innovative and cost-effective ideas.

On top of the exhibits on offer, attendees were treated to numerous ‘business card prize draws’, close-up magic from Dippy, live broadcasting from local radio station – HayesFM – and even a free BBQ lunch, sponsored by Chartwells. Further, the Ideas Bus arrived on the University campus to wow us with their enormous American school bus, transformed with cutting-edge techonology, aimed at educational activities. With all this stimulation, the mindfulness and meditation session on offer were a welcome relief before diving back in for more networking and excitement.

To round off the day, all exhibitors and those who delivered the many special features came together for a celebratory networking drinks reception, sponsored by Kingston Smith.
