An Albourne firm has urged other Sussex businesses to 'wake up and smell the export coffee'.

The digital company which has secured orders to work within the Brazilian coffee industry just four months after visiting the market with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and London Chamber of Commerce, shared its experiences of export success with 116 other Sussex firms at the launch of UKTI’s Export Week in the South East.

Dotsquares, which produces mobile apps and games, as well as websites and web-based systems, now provides the client in the South American coffee industry with mobile apps to assist with tracking orders and deliveries.

The app provides both coffee merchants and bulk buyers with a comprehensive dashboard to review active and pending orders, including a complete order history. Both can easily see the grade of coffee on order, its current status and it lets them view a PDF copy of the contract.

The firm, whose managing director Bankim Chandra spoke at UKTI’s ‘Exporting for Growth’ event in Brighton, has also secured further work with a high-flying digital agency in Sao Paulo to provide mobile apps and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Chandra said: “While it is always difficult negotiating within a new market and overcoming issues such as language and cultural barriers, we feel that offering great levels of service and good prices formed the foundations for our success. Our focus now is to quickly consolidate on these successes and build a name for ourselves in Brazil that becomes synonymous with high-quality developments at affordable rates.

“Speaking at the UKTI ‘Exporting for Growth’ event was a great opportunity to share the fantastic experiences we have had, both of exporting and of working with UKTI.”

Hosted in partnership with Coast to Capital LEP, the half-day seminar helped Sussex firms find out more about the opportunities in the global marketplace as well as the support that is available to them from UKTI.

The event launched UKTI’s 'Grow Your Business' Export Week - a week of events designed to help firms either start exporting or expand their export activity to grow their business.

Lewis Scott, UKTI regional director for the South East, said: “Dotsquares’ success in the coffee industry goes to show not only the opportunities that the Brazilian market has to offer but also the value of UKTI trade missions.

“By visiting Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with experts from UKTI and like-minded businesses, this company has grabbed every opportunity available to them and now boasts four high-profile contracts in Brazil.

“Fellow companies in the South East should also wake up and smell the coffee by looking overseas for equally lucrative opportunities in markets across the world. This week’s Export Week is already providing companies across all sectors with the opportunity to follow Dotsquares’ example and take their goods and services to the world.”
