The University of Surrey is advertising for TikTok creators to shape the future of its content on the social media site.

Successful applicants will work alongside socia media marketing agency Coolr to create content representing what the university calls the ‘Surrey Experience’. This could include tours around accommodation and campus and insights into social life, studying or budgeting.

The university has said it is looking for people familiar with all social channel communications, who are able to film basic transitions and are comfortable appearing on camera. Coolr will provide training, content plans and production support.

A number of universities have already found their way on to the platform in an effort to reach out to prospective students; among the institutions on the platform, Chichester in West Sussex is far and away the most popular, with 23.8 thousand followers at the time of writing.

One thing Chichester does well, and that Surrey will be hoping to mimic, is making content about the university involving trending topics. For example, when internet trainspotting sensation Francis Bourgeois visited a nearby station, Chichester made sure to jump on the bandwagon.

Other universities on the platform include Reading, with 5339 followers, Roehampton, with 8058, and Birmingham, with 8797.
