Supporting charity fundraising in these challenging times
The HSBC corporate team in Hampshire and Dorset are delighted to share the three local charities that we will be supporting for the coming year, writes Sharon Murphy, senior corporate relationship director.
The impact of Covid has not only been challenging for local businesses but it has also significantly reduced the level of fundraising activities that many charities rely on. We will be hosting a number of virtual events in the coming months such as wine tastings and cookery classes and we are hoping that as lockdown eases, we will be able to do a number of outdoor and evening events.
Of course we can’t forget about our annual golf day which is pencilled in for Wednesday August 25 2021. We do hope that the local professional and business community will be able to get behind us to provide some much needed donations for these great causes.
Abby's Heroes
The aim of the charity is to help and support children and their families who come under the care of the Piam Brown and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) wards in Southampton General Hospital. The catchment for these wards covers the south of England as it is a centre of excellence for children’s oncology. The charity offers financial and practical help and importantly, the opportunity to make lasting memories for the children, young adults and their families. As a family that has passed through this ward, the founders of Abbys Heroes are acutely aware of what a traumatic and frightening journey it can be for both the child and their families. Abby’s heroes has been set up entirely with this in mind and practical help is given via financial grants to help people through a difficult time.
Days out and fun memory-making grants will also be given, which will allow the families a chance to do something together.
