Starling Bank is searching for 100 staff for its Town Quay offices in Southampton.

The digital bank has been in the city since 2019, when it opened its first non-London office.

The vacancies range in the different areas of Starling’s operations, from customer service and financial crime to software engineering and data analytics.

As part of its hiring campaign, Starling has wrapped six of the city’s double-decker buses in a striking white livery.

Anna Griffin, talent acquisition manager at Starling Bank, said: “We’re looking for a lot of people. We don’t look for people who’ve worked in banks previously. We’re really focused on people who just really want to provide the best customer service.”

“We’ve launched, in customer service and customer acquisition, a new twilight team focused on the hours of 5pm until around 3am, with some shifts finishing around 12. It really is about you telling us what works for you and we’ll find a shift that can support your lifestyle.

“We want to make work fit around your personal life, not your personal life fit around work.”

Among those targeted by the campaign are students and with this in mind the company is planning to launch a second campaign towards the end of September as students return to university for the next academic year.

Susanna Yallop, the bank’s chief people officer, said: “We work 24/7 so we have people who are available to our customers round the clock and that means we can have shifts that suit different people.

“We’ve got a lovely office in Southampton and we’re now in a position where we can use it and people can get together and enjoy that working experience.”
