Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP, legal professionals Paris Smith and recruitment specialist Serocor are hosting a breakfast event to inspire and inform chief executives and other board directors in dealing with the issues of attracting and keeping a talented workforce. It will take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Tuesday November 3, starting at 7.45am.

The seminar will encourage employers to think differently about talent management through keynote speeches by industry professionals Tom Hadley, director of policy and professional services at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, and ‘Google Dave’, partner and director of client services at PH.Creative.

The speakers will also join Paul Mallinson, managing director of Optamor Talent Partnerships, and Judy Holliday, head of development at Arqiva, to lead a panel session on building talent for growth and tackling challenges head on.

Malcolm Thixton, lead partner at BDO Southampton, said: “As part of BDO’s focus on the Central South Mid Market over the past 18 months we have spoken to a wide range of companies and they all have a common challenge when looking to grow their business – the ability to recruit and retain a talented workforce in a fiercely competitive labour market.”

Mike Gawthorne at Serocor Group continued: “Businesses are facing profound challenges in attracting and keeping the right talent for growth, confidence is back and revenues are up, however talent now appears to be on every board’s agenda as the main blocker to growth. This is driven by many factors, from new technology to changing demographics, combined with the global skills shortage during a time of growth.

Peter Taylor, managing partner at Paris Smith, added: "The fact of the matter is that employees have more options and employers have fewer; businesses need to review their strategies in order to tackle the challenge head on.”
