Private equity experts at national law firm Shoosmiths have advised NVM Private Equity on its investment into Mo, a London-based employee reward, recognition and ideas platform.

Mo, formerly ThanksBox, was founded by Luke Fisher and is a fast-growing business with clients across 45 countries speaking 12 languages, and this investment will help it to grow further.

Its proprietary technology helps organisations to achieve success by strengthening relationships at work, building stronger cultures and giving employees greater meaning at work.

Thames Valley corporate partner Sanjeev Sharma led the deal, with assistance from corporate solicitor Adam Leszczynski. Tax partner Tom Wilde and employment partner Paula Rome, data protection senior associate Sarah Tedstone, IP associate Imogen Francis and tax solicitor James Arnold were also part of the team.

Sharma said: “We are delighted to have advised NVM on this investment into an exciting product to make workplaces better through employee recognition and appreciation.”

Jason Warren, NVM investment associate, added: "This represents a fantastic investment for us. We see huge potential in Mo for helping companies to improve their culture through recognition.  Shoosmiths are great at understanding exactly what we need and working as a seamless extension of our own team. Their experience and expertise was invaluable.”

Luke Fisher, CEO at Mo said: “We’re very excited for a fruitful 2019. Both firms were so helpful and professional, and ensured the plan for growing our business got over the line.”

Winner of the corporate and commercial firm (specialism) of the year (venture capital) at The Legal 500 UK Awards 2019, Shoosmiths' corporate team has advised public and private companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle. Shoosmiths works with businesses from start-up and first round finance, through to mergers and acquisitions, MBO and MBI transactions, development funding and on exits, by way of sale, listing or private equity investment.
