The 2017 Solent Business Awards campaign is launched this month – and will culminate with a gala dinner at Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, on October 19.

With renowned writer and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth as this year’s special guest presenter, the Solent Business Awards is expected to attract 300 of the region’s top business people to the black-tie event.

There are seven categories for 2017:

  • Company of the Year – sponsored by KPMG
  • Management Team of the Year – sponsored by NatWest
  • SME of the Year – sponsored by James Cowper Kreston
  • Dynamic Growth – sponsored by Pitmans Law
  • Best Use of Technology – sponsored by Taylor Made Computer Solutions
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Best Company to Work For

SBA is open to companies throughout the Solent and South Coast region, stretching from Weymouth in the west to Chichester in the east, and from Basingstoke in the north and the Isle of Wight in the south.

Entry is free. Companies can enter up to two categories and entries close on June 30. Judging takes place in July and finalists will be notified at the beginning of September.

Staged by The Business Magazine, SBA is in its third year and regularly attracts entries from the region’s top businesses. Last year’s winners ranged from Churchill Retirement Living to Amey.

Presenter Gyles Brandreth is a former MP and government whip. A reporter on The One Show on BBC1 and a regular on Radio 4’s Just a Minute, his many books include The Oscar Wilde Murder Mysteries and the best-seller, The 7 Secrets of Happiness.

The SBA chosen charity is once again Naomi House and Jacksplace hospices for children and young adults, providing respite, emergency and end-of-life care to life-limited children and young people across the central South.

Paul Morgan, the charity’s head of fundraising, said: “We consider it a great honour to be put forward for a second year as the benefitting charity for the awards."
