James Cowper Kreston is delighted that Stewart Lambert, one of the firm’s corporate finance partners, has been awarded the Corporate Finance Adviser of the Year Award. The corporate finance team was also recognised in the Mid-Range Deal of the Year, £10m-£50m category, at last week’s Solent Deals Awards ceremony.

Lambert’s award comes on the back of a stellar 2017/18 period over which he advised on the cross-border retirement sale of Kendall Brothers, a family-owned aggregate company, to LarfageHolcim, and the disposal of Oceanair Marine Group to Dometic. He has been a part of the firm for 10 years and continues to provide his clients with excellent service and ensures their deals go smoothly.

“I am thrilled to have won this award,” said Lambert. “Both of these deals were very rewarding, for not only for the companies involved, but also for me. It is fantastic to see the end results of your hard work being successful and even better to be presented with such a prestigious accolade for it.”

The Mid-Range Deal of the Year award was presented to the corporate finance team for their work on the Quarr Group management buyout. Quarr is a large corporation which provides catering, construction and cleaning services to universities, local authorities, commercial businesses and healthcare companies. Financial due diligence services, for HSBC, the group’s long-term banking partner, were provided by James Cowper Kreston.

Stuart Williams, corporate finance partner, said: “We are pleased that our support to HSBC, as part of this deal, has been acknowledged by the sector. Going up against so many well deserving deals that have been done across the region in the past 12 months is never easy, so it is a great achievement to be able to take home the award. I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my congratulations to Stewart on his win.

The Solent Deals Awards is an annual event that recognises the best in the corporate finance sector. Firms/banks/individuals and deals from across the Solent region are nominated and the event culminates in an award ceremony and gala dinner held in the summer.
