Leading South Coast law firm Coffin Mew has appointed three new partners and promoted one of its solicitors in a renewal of its commitment to reward those who make a difference to the firm and help drive it into new areas.

Promotions within Coffin Mew have seen associate solicitors Ian Dawes and Annabelle Vaughan appointed partners - Dawes to head up the dispute resolution team in Southampton, while Vaughan will run the specialist court of protection team in Portsmouth.

Mark James has joined Coffin Mew from Rix and Kay as a new partner in dispute resolution, and will work in Brighton and the firm’s other South Coast offices. He specialises in construction and sports law.

Mirren McGinley, who is Brighton-based, has been promoted to associate solicitor. Her wealth of experience will be in demand as she helps develop the firm’s specialist commercial property team.

Miles Brown, managing partner at Coffin Mew, said: “We are delighted with the differences Ian, Annabelle and Mirren have made in their fields. We are passionate about rewarding talent and recognising the team members who make a significant difference to the firm. It is also a great pleasure to welcome Mark to the team. He inspires confidence in his clients and has an excellent track record for achieving cost-effective solutions to disputes.

“With a strong drive for growth and planned acquisitions for the next 12 months, we are working to ensure there are great staffing structures in place for another year of expansion.”

Coffin Mew was recently placed eighth nationally in the list of best-managed firms over the past three years. Established in 1891 at Brighton, it also has offices in Southampton, Portsmouth, Gosport and London.
