A Southampton commercial vehicle company has expanded by opening its fourth site with help from NatWest.

Sparks Commercials, which has its headquarters on Hounsdown Business Park, Totton, has extended its Renault Trucks commercial vehicle sales and service coverage into Wiltshire with the acquisition of a firm in Swindon.

The site joins Southampton and existing depots in Portsmouth and Poole in offering sales of a full range of Renault Trucks from 2.8 to 44 tonnes as well as servicing and other facilities including roadside assistance and recovery and repair and maintenance contracts.

The company was set up 25 years ago by Mike and Julie Spark and now employs more than 82 staff. The move into Wiltshire, to a site on Swindon’s South Marston Park, will create a further 18 jobs.

The Spark couple worked with NatWest senior relationship manager Martin Ford to secure borrowing to assist with the £1.5 million acquisition.

Julie Spark said: “We have dealt with NatWest since forming the company in 1990 and they have been very supportive of our business in every way over the years. They have listened and understood our expansion plans and ideas and we hold them in very high regard.”

Ford added: “NatWest is delighted to be able to support Mike and Julie with this acquisition, which sees them continue to deliver on their strategic plan and creates a number of new positions.”
