Andover-headquartered Simplyhealth, a Solent 250 company, has appointed Duane Lawrence and Martin Stead as non-executive directors to support its growth agenda and help drive its digital healthcare plans.

Lawrence is a health technology specialist with over 30 years’ experience in both large and small organisations worldwide. He started and led the Misys Healthcare International business, scaled and exited London-based digital health start-up InferMed and led the transformation of Ascribe into EMIS Health. He currently holds several board appointments in UK-based global healthcare companies, supporting them to develop the right strategic approach to drive growth and customer value.

Stead has delivered growth across a range of industry sectors, from packaged goods to energy to financial services. As CEO of fintech Nutmeg, he scaled up the business to become the largest digital wealth manager in Europe with over 100,000 customers and billions of assets under management, improving access to high-quality investments. He is also the co-founder of climate tech start-up ZeroBees.com, and sustainable wine e-retailer Collectivino.com.

Gil Baldwin (pictured), Chairman of Simplyhealth, said: “They are both hugely experienced and well-respected professionals in their fields and will add a new dimension to our Board. They are committed to supporting our business as we drive our significant growth ambitions and seek to provide innovative new healthcare solutions for our customers.”

Simplyhealth provides healthcare plans and wellbeing services to individuals, families and employees. It has around 1,000 staff and 2.3 million customers. The company was ranked at number 15 in The Business Magazine's 2021 edition of the Solent 250 list of the biggest local businesses.
