Dasic International, based in Romsey, Hampshire, has increased productivity by 50% and has the potential to further increase productivity by 100% if a new shift pattern introduced by the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) South East is implemented.

Following successful 5S and Productivity Improvement Programmes, led by MAS South East Specialist, Stuart Wood, Dasic International, manufacturers of chemical cleaning solutions for a variety of industry sectors, increased output from two batches of chemicals per day to three batches and were introduced to the idea of a new shift pattern system that would increase daily batch production by 100%.

Stuart Wood also demonstrated the time savings to be achieved by improving stock rotation and relocating products to become more accessible whilst implementing simple steps to improve overall Health & Safety, including clutter free workstations.

Wood highlighted the importance of a complete working culture move towards change and continuous improvement.

Paul Hillman, production manager, Dasic International, said: “Following MAS South East intervention, Dasic International has gone from strength to strength – the whole team is now committed to change and the latest MAS South East productivity improvement programme has reinforced our determination to continue making improvements to overall operations.”

He continued: “MAS South East has given us the potential to increase productivity by 100% and respond to customer demand quicker, simply by introducing a new shift pattern. We are now in a better position to expand our business and take advantage of the economic upturn.”

Wood said: “The underlying ethos of MAS is to leave a knowledge base within a company capable of continuing the tools, learning and cultural change, as well as teaching others by demonstrating how simple changes and an alternative approach can reap enormous benefits to the company and its employees.”
