Retailer The Range to open bigger store in Cheltenham
Value home, leisure and gardens retailer, The Range, is to open a new branch in Cheltenham on Friday 30 October.
The new branch will be located on the former Homebase site at Centrum Retail Park and will replace the existing store located just half a mile away on Tewkesbury Road. It will provide a much larger retail space than the current store and will see existing staff transferring to the new store.
The Cheltenham store will have an Iceland family café, an outdoor garden centre and an Iceland.
The new store will provide up to 50 new full and part-time roles within store management, warehousing, and retail administration. The existing store on Tewkesbury Road will close on Thursday 29th October, the day before the new one launches.
The Plymouth-headquartered retailer now operates more than 180 stores across the UK and Ireland. The sudden growth of The Range, given the current economic challenges faced by the retail sector, is a mark of the entrepreneurial leadership of Devon-based owner and founder of the firm, Chris Dawson. He began life as a market stall trader across the South West of England, opening his first store in Plymouth in 1989 under the name CDS and has grown the company ever since.
