Ocean Basket has over 220 restaurants worldwide in 17 countries including Cyprus, Mauritius, Malta, Kenya, Dubai and South Africa.
Grace Harding, CEO of Ocean Basket Group, said she was surprised at the reaction that greeted the opening of the Bromley store.
“South Africans living in the UK went crazy. They drove hours to get here and brought their British friends along, she said.
“Our dream is to become a household name in the UK. We know we have much to learn, and are staying close to our consumer so that we get under the skin of every community in which we place our pans”.
Ocean Basket was started by two brothers, Fats and George Lazarides, in Pretoria in 1995 and has made its name through its Mediterranean style food and also the atmosphere within its restaurants.
