Record breaking year for Coventry recruitment specialist

One of Coventry’s fastest growing independent recruitment agencies is on course for its best-ever twelve months after seeing revenues increase year on year.

Genesis Employment, which employs 15 people at its Hay Lane office, has tapped into significant demand from automotive, engineering, food and warehousing clients for both temporary and permanent workers and expects annual sales to hit £9.2m in 2024.

The recruitment of a new Sales Director and Senior Operations Manager has paid dividends and opened up additional opportunities in the construction industry.

It has been a whirlwind period for the business and now the owners are looking to give something back to the city they call home by throwing its weight behind an appeal that will highlight the achievements of managerial team John Sillett and George Curtis in bringing the FA Cup back to the city.

Genesis Employment has pledged £10,000 to the campaign to celebrate two legendary figures in Sky Blues history and this has taken the total fundraising to £185,000, with just £15,000 left to hit the target.

“The majority of our recent growth has been achieved in and around Coventry and we value highly the long-term partnerships we have built with local employers and workers,” explained Gaynor Frost, who founded the business with her husband Richard in 2002.

“We are arguably now the largest independent recruitment agency in the city and sales are steadily heading towards £10 million, which is a fantastic achievement from everyone involved in the company.”

She continued: “A lot of candidates are Coventry City fans, so it made perfect sense to give something back and support the John Sillett and George Curtis statue appeal. Critically acclaimed UK sculptor Douglas Jennings, who has previously immortalised footballing royalty in Johnny Haynes, George Cohen and Jack Charlton, has already agreed to sculpt it.”

The management team at the agency are keen supporters of Coventry City, having previously been the ‘back of shirt’ sponsor during the 2013/14 season and a pitch side advertiser since 2005.

It also sponsors team sheets, GoalCam, corner kicks and regularly entertain clients and suppliers in its 12-seater box.

Now they are keen to do what they can to ensure the statue of two Sky Blues icons becomes a reality.

“I’ve been watching Cov since my dad first took me when I was just nine,” pointed out Gaynor Frost, Managing Director.

“Winning the cup in 1987 will live with us forever and, despite some of the tough times the club has been through, we always had that wonderful day at Wembley. The Keith Houchen diving header, Dave Bennett working his magic, the sea of Sky Blue – we owe all of that to John Sillett and George Curtis.”

She went on to add: “We pride ourselves on being a Coventry business so wanted to extend our relationship with the club and ensure this fantastic tribute takes its rightful place on Jimmy Hill Way outside the Coventry Building Society Stadium.”

Joe Elliot MBE, a member of the Statue Appeal committee, added his support: “Genesis Employment’s generous donation has given the campaign a real boost.

“It is only right that we have a lasting memory dedicated to that famous day and we’re keen for more employers to come forward and follow Gaynor and Richard’s example. It doesn’t have to be £10k - there are lots of different packages available and supporters keen to take part can also pledge their backing.

“Any individual, family or business who donates £500 or more will get their name on the plinth of the statue.”
