Reading: Law firm flies the flag for Thames Valley and UK
Last week Blandy & Blandy LLP welcomed delegates from 20 countries (including all over Europe, Mexico, Singapore and South Africa) to an international conference in Reading and Brexit was unsurprisingly a dominant theme.
The conference brought together members of the Law Firm Network, a global network of over 50 independent law firms worldwide.
Under the title of ‘Doing business with the UK post Brexit’, speakers from organisations including United Overseas Bank, KPMG, Cushman & Wakefield, the University of Reading, James Cowper Kreston, Clearswift and the FSE Group shared their insights on areas including the commercial and residential property markets, mergers and acquisitions, constitutional law, tax on businesses, the funding landscape, data protection and cybersecurity.
The busy three-day programme also showcased the wider Thames Valley, with a guided tour of Windsor Castle, Thames river cruise and dinner at Cliveden House among the highlights.
Brenda Long, chairman of Blandy & Blandy, said: “We were delighted to welcome delegates from so many countries to this popular conference. The theme was heavily underpinned by the recent referendum decision, including discussions on working with and investing in the UK pre and post Brexit.
"All of our partners were involved in some way and we were fortunate to have external speakers representing leading organisations. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase Reading and the region, which is one of the fastest-growing and most successful economic areas in the UK, and indeed Europe.”
