A property and construction consultancy in Oxford has been praised for providing a “fantastic experience” after delivering full mechanical and electrical services as part of a successful multi-million-pound project to redevelop a popular leisure centre.

Malvern Splash Leisure Centre, owned by Malvern Hills District Council and run by Freedom Leisure, reopened its doors on 12 April following the easing of lockdown restrictions.

The reopening coincided with the completion of an extensive £2 million redevelopment project in which refurbishments were made to the swimming pool and wet changing rooms including dedicated changing facilities for people with disabilities and additional family changing areas.

The Witney property and construction company Ingleton Wood worked with stakeholders, from Oxford-based project managers Clarkson Alliance through to the area manager for the leisure centre itself.

David Chappell, Project Manager at Clarkson Alliance, said: “Clarkson Alliance was delighted to appoint Ingleton Wood to our existing team of project, cost and design managers working in conjunction with our colleagues at Freedom Leisure and Arkon Associates to deliver a revitalised pool hall, new flume and play features as well as refurbished changing rooms for Malvern Hills District Council.

“Ingleton Wood fitted seamlessly into the team and allowed the project to meet its objectives. With the project being entirely delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic, the completion of this project is testament to the collaboration of the entire team.”

Dave Spencer, Area Manager at Freedom Leisure, said: “This £2 million project had its challenges due to working under very strict Covid restrictions. I would highly recommend Ingleton Wood who worked very closely with the Main Contractors, Client and the Centre team and the final product looks superb. We have a fantastic leisure facility and everyone involved in this project should be very proud of what has been achieved.”

Peter Webb, Director at Ingleton Wood’s Oxford office which is also marking its two-year anniversary, said: “We were delighted to work on this project at Malvern Splash Leisure Centre as M&E designers and to work with MHDC, Freedom Leisure and The Clarkson Alliance.

“Despite the unique challenges faced due to the third national lockdown, we were very pleased to deliver the project in time for visitors to be able to enjoy the redeveloped facilities in line with the easing of Covid restrictions.”
