Mountjoy, the Portsmouth-based construction and maintenance services provider, has scored a hat-trick of local contracts in recent months worth over £2.2 million.

The building contractor, which is based in Mountbatten Business Park, has been awarded a £1.5m contract to extend and refurbish All Saints Church of England Junior School in Fleet. The junior school is being expanded to cope with a higher intake owing to the influx of pupils into the area.

Again in response to increased demand for school places in and around Southampton, Mountjoy has been awarded a £500,000 contract by Southampton City Council to convert a vacant office building into educational facilities for Bevois Town Primary School. This will see the school expand from 210 to 420 places.

The project is Mountjoy’s second contract with Southampton City Council this year, following the refurbishment at Sembal House Day Care Facility on Handel Terrace in Southampton in April 2013.

A GP practice in Alresford is also expanding and reshaping its services to meet the needs of more patients with a £183,000 facelift. Mountjoy is scheduled to complete the extension and refurbishment project this month, which will create a larger, improved GP practice for doctors, patients and admin staff. The programme of works will create three new consulting rooms, a new building entrance, WCs, a first-floor office and external works.

Andy Flambard, Mountjoy operations director, commented: “These education appointments are a significant achievement for us. Not only do they highlight the effectiveness of our strategy within this sector, they also prove that we can deliver best value and a quality service. The award of Alresford Surgery is also the start of a renewed focus on opportunities within the healthcare sector.”
