The hard work and dedication of Gunwharf Quays has been recognised with a hat-trick of wins and shortlisted positions at three of the UK’s most prestigious industry awards.

The award wins for the south’s leading premium retail outlet centre include the National Recycling Award in the ‘Retail/Service Sector Recycler of the Year’ category.  This is following praise for its commitment to greater sustainability and management of core resources, providing a full understanding of the range of challenges faced by all stakeholders in its operations.

It acknowledged the ‘gaps’ and developed and implemented an improvement plan which included recycling 100% of food waste and sending 480 tonnes less waste to the Energy Recovery Facility than in 2014 through separation of waste at source, thereby helping to increase the recycling figure from 44% to 70% in 12 months.

The environmentally-aware ethos of the centre has seen it supplement the aforementioned win with a prestigious ‘Green Apple’ award for making a positive impact on the environment through best practice and improving sustainability.

The centre has also been shortlisted as one of six centres nationally for the ‘Best Cleaned Shopping Mall’ award at The Golden Service Awards (The Oscars of the cleaning industry), ahead of a glittering awards ceremony where the winners will be announced on October 23 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

General manager Colin Wilding said: “Gunwharf Quays has a fantastic team of staff who are continually putting a lot of hard work into these important areas of the business to enhance the customer experience and maintain our high standards. It’s excellent to have their exceptional work acknowledged by the industry and we are proud to be recognised as providing an environmentally-aware, spotless shopping and dining experience to our visitors.”
