Entrepreneurs Unite, a voluntary group of entrepreneurs from Portsmouth, has announced its intention to bring another Global Entrepreneurship Week to the city.  The week, which runs from the November 17-23, will see a series of events celebrating entrepreneurial activity and expertise in the city.  It is designed to inspire the entrepreneur in everyone, giving people the tools to step forward boldly and consider starting their own business.

After a successful 2013 campaign with 100 events organised and around 2,000 people taking part, Entrepreneurs Unite has decided that 2014 will be even better.  This year will feature Portsmouth co-launching the week with sister initiatives in London, as well as sharing events on a global scale through digital streaming.

Shena Mitchell, founder of Entrepreneurs Unite, said: “This year is going to be even bigger and better than last year. The support from local businesses has been overwhelming and with the University and the Council behind us, we are really motoring.

“For the first time we have been asked to co-launch with London which is a fantastic recognition of the scope and size of the Portsmouth activities last year.”

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 will launch locally with the annual Shaping Portsmouth Conference followed by a week’s worth of activities, which is set to feature highlights such as start-up workshops, aspirational events for young people, the creation of a new game developers’ network, events for social entrepreneurs, hackathons and more.

For the first time, Entrepreneurs Unite is also reaching out to the wider region, offering to publicise and support other Global Entrepreneurship Week activities beyond Portsmouth.

Peter Hooley, strategic director at the Innovation Space Project, said: “It’s set to be an exciting week. This year, the week will feature even more events from across the community. I am particularly pleased that the Innovation Space team can help these brilliant businesses develop and succeed through the Entrepreneurs Unite initiative.

“You can’t help but be inspired by some of the success stories from last year, it’s great to be part of something that really helps people get into and grow their businesses.”
