Poole: Superior hosts successful apprentice event
Superior, a leading manufacturer of high integrity O-rings and seals, hosted an exclusive event for fellow manufacturing and engineering companies during the recent National Apprenticeship Week, at which it showcased the benefits of hiring apprentices.
The event, held at Superior’s headquarters in Ferndown, was attended by local businesses, including Aeronautical & General Instruments, Aish Technologies, Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Christchurch and East Dorset Council.
Tim Brown MBE, managing director of Superior, said: “Many of the attendees remarked on how useful the event was. We were really pleased to have achieved full capacity and as a result, we’re planning to hold a similar event annually, to include all industries.”
Mike Freemantle, production manager at Aeronautical & General Instruments, said: “The event was really thought provoking, bringing up several good ideas which we will be looking to build on for our own company’s forthcoming apprenticeship scheme.”
At the event, Superior, which currently has 19 apprentices going through its Superior Academy programme, gave 20 year-old James Rowe its award for Apprentice of the Year.
