Digital marketing agency b4b Marketing in Poole has launched ‘Our 360’ - a free virtual reality (VR) app that encourages people staying home to explore the most-loved views of Dorset, from the safety of their armchairs or garden benches.

The 360-degree videos and panoramic images transport users to local areas, such as Baiter Park, Bournemouth Pier, historic Poole Town, Sandbanks and 12 other popular sites in the region. As the video ‘walks’ them through the area, the user can simply tilt and pan their phone or tablet giving them the freedom to look around and soak up the views and sounds from home, as if they were there in person.

“During their exercise time, our team went out with the latest in 360 video technology to film in their local areas”, explained Alistair Paton, technical director at b4b Marketing, who had the idea for the app.

“We are now inviting local photographers to send us their own views to add and make it a community-driven project, for everyone to enjoy from home. Perfect whilst people are unable to travel to their favourite destinations.”

The 360-views in the app can be further enhanced by using VR headset technology to give an even more immersive experience.

Paton added: “Isolation can have a big impact on people’s mental health. With ‘Our 360’, we wanted to allow people to escape to familiar views that they love, helping to lift their mood and spark memories that make them smile.”

Photographers will be able to showcase their work and link out to their portfolio to help them promote their skills to potential clients and win new work. Email apps@b4b.co.uk if you are interested to contribute.

The app is available via the app store for free download on iOS and Android devices.
