Construction giant Stepnell has appointed a new operations manager to cover its Poole and Southampton offices following a successful year in the region.

With more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Steve Higgins has joined the team to manage all operational construction-based activity from Stepnell’s two south coast offices.

Speaking about his new job role, Higgins said: ‘I’m really excited to be a part of the team for such a huge player in the construction world. Having the opportunity to work for an established family-run business that is constantly looking to improve and grow – not just in size but also in maturity – was too good to turn down.”

In his new position, Higgins will be working to gain and maintain strong client relationships, support site teams and contribute towards business development initiatives, particularly through innovation and technology.

He said: “It’s so refreshing to work for a company that is open to new ways of working and believes in a collaborative approach. Stepnell is already pushing the envelope when it comes to introducing new technologies to replace traditional processes so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and joining them on the journey towards further advancement.”

The award-winning firm has more than 150 years of experience delivering private and public sector projects across central England and the south of the UK with a value of up to £30 million.

While Stepnell has been operating in the region for more than 30 years, it recently moved to a new office in Southampton which has had a long line of big project wins over the past 12 months. Major Stepnell projects in Dorset include a state-of-the art clubhouse for Parkstone Yacht Club and Figbury Lodge, a major care home development for the Borough of Poole in Mitchell Road, Poole.

Regional director Rob Speirs said: “We’re really happy to have Steve on board. Following a successful year in Poole and Southampton, it’s great to be able to expand our team and welcome someone who really fits in with the company ethos in terms of active development and progression.

“The Southampton office has experienced high levels of revenue growth during its first year in the new premises so we’re very excited for what the future holds – in terms of upcoming projects as well as innovation within the company.”
