Plans have been revealed for the former Akzo Nobel paint factory site in Slough, it has been reported.
Equinix, reportedly the buyer of the site in 2022, a digital infrastructure company, is proposing a new data centre campus on the site on Wexham Road.

It will be Equinex's eighth data centre in Slough and there will be three to four years before construction can begin. It says the proposals are at an early stage.

It added that the plans would revitalise a former ‘gateway’ industrial site to the town and provide benefits such as local employment and training, the creation of a technology campus at Wexham road and enhanced biodiversity and landscaping.

The Akzonobel Decorative Paints site on Wexham Road was reportedly sold by Slough Borough Council for over £100million to reduce its debt in 2022.

It had reportedly stopped operating as a factory in 2018 and had been earmarked by the council for up to 1,000 homes, with planning permission granted to Panattoni in 2020.

But a report found that the council had to spend at least £250 million to build the new homes and did not have a clear idea about how to fund this, it was reported.

The site was reportedly then sold to the highest bidder in November, 2022.

A public consultation has been launched on the Equinix plans. That closes on March 27 and can be found HERE.
