Specialist multi temperature supply chain operator and family business Oakland International has extended its onsite parking and washing facilities at its Redditch hub for visiting drivers.

Alongside a new canteen, the extended showers and toilet block are fully operational and dedicated solely for visiting drivers. Open every day of the year, except Christmas Day, drivers have access to Oakland’s facilities which are open to hauliers needing planned and unplanned short and long-term parking.

Oakland is a registered SNAP location (SNAP lists the nearest Truck Park or Truck Wash to a driver’s current location).

Luke Attwell, Distribution Manager at the Redditch site, said: “We’ve been developing our onsite lorry parking and driver facilities for some time, seeing demand steadily increase and needed more recently during the current restrictions.

“Drivers are offered a free coffee and a ‘grab and go’ bag which is being funded jointly with Golden Acre Foods during this time of COVID-19, as we have created new dedicated recreational areas for staff. Drivers help themselves to a free sandwich from our outside fridge with hot drinks available from our dedicated drivers’ canteen. We’re always open to suggestions on how we can improve and love to see drivers ‘checking in’ on site.”

Oakland International is a BRC AA accredited business, a double Queen’s Award for Enterprise recipient for International Trade and Sustainable Development and is working towards being the first carbon-neutral business within its sector and a specialist contract packing, storage, picking, food distribution and brand development support provider for ambient, chilled and frozen food to the retail, convenience, discount, wholesale and food service markets in the UK, Ireland and via its partner in Spain.
