NK Media Ltd celebrates first anniversary with major investment

NK Media Ltd, the business-to-business publishing company which launched Business & Innovation Magazine in May 2017, is celebrating a hugely successful first year with the announcement of significant financial investment.

The investment will help accelerate the company’s growth plans to expand its regional business coverage, on-line and in print, out of its core area of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and North Wiltshire, to a second edition in 2019 covering the Thames Valley, with more planned to cover the Midlands, Bath and Bristol

Business & Innovation Magazine was launched last year by two highly experienced publishing industry professionals: Business journalist Nicky Godding and magazine sales professional Kirsty Muir. It attracted the attention of James Palmer, a successful businessman with substantial commercial interests, particularly in telecoms and IT, across the region.

James said: “The magazine stood out as a colourful, well-designed, well-produced, editorially rich publication which I actually wanted to pick up and read. It is backed up by a news-rich website, updated daily, which reflects the magazine’s strong brand. There is a future for print journalism. Just as Kindle reading has lost out to traditional print and albums are again being produced in vinyl, there is a market for quality magazines – but they must reflect how people want to access news and information by being available online too.”

NK Media Ltd is also planning to increase its business-to-business networking and social events which are already very well-attended and often fully booked.

Editor Nicky added: “Business & Innovation Magazine is a vehicle for business. The news inside reveals a complex and rich regional economic landscape. Many businesses look nationally, or even internationally for companies to buy from or sell to, overlooking opportunities closer to home. There’s also the issue of finding skilled people to employ. As local daily and weekly newspapers continue to reduce their business reporting, regional businesses are looking for alternative opportunities to share their news or raise their profile locally to sell more, or attract the skilled people they need to thrive and grow.”

Commercial Director, Kirsty Muir, added: “We set out to reveal new innovations, companies, products and entrepreneurs across the Midlands and West of England. There are hundreds of businesses sitting outside the limelight. Sometimes this is because they don’t have huge marketing budgets, or just that their directors are too busy working in the business to talk about what they do. With this new funding, we can now expand our support for regional businesses into new areas of the country.”

NK Media Ltd has already expanded its sales and events team.

Business & Innovation Magazine and website offer a unique resource for research. Every news story covered on the website will always be accessible through the magazine’s on-line archive. Those seeking to boost their knowledge of the regional business economy to gain new customers, clients or competitive advantage, can quickly gain a picture of the most important companies and business activities in that region through the website.

There is a real need for impartial business reporting across all the UK’s regions. Increasingly British business works in silos – of geography or industry sector, but economic success come from cross-fertilization of experience and ideas.

And with the uncertainties around Brexit, it’s more important than ever to give businesses opportunities to grow through providing a trusted platform to share news. In print and online, Business & Innovation Magazine offers a level editorial playing field, where the most relevant news will get reported.

The magazine has a growing business to business, corporate and commercial readership, from small and medium-sized enterprises to the largest businesses.

NK Media Ltd prints 8,000 copies of each issue of the bi-monthly magazine. 6,500 are mailed directly to the company’s unique database of senior management professionals, business support organisations and professional companies across the region. The remaining 1,500 copies are distributed at the regular face-to-face networking events, organised either by third parties or by NK Media Ltd to support the local business network.
