Panattoni, the largest logistics real estate company in the UK and Europe, said a new £8 million link road to improve traffic flow at its giant logistics hub at Aylesford, Kent had officially opened.

The road, which links Station road and Bellingham way, is part of Panattoni's enormous £180 million redevelopment of the former Aylesford Newsprint site to create a 1 million sq ft logistics and distribution space serving London and the South East.

The scheme called Panattoni Park sits near Junction 4 of the M20. A paper mill formerly at the site closed in 2015 and planning permission was received in 2021.

In April this year, Panattoni revealed it had handed over keys to logistics space at the development to three major firms - global logistics giant DHL, Fowler Welch, the temperature-controlled logistics company, and Marley, which manufactures and supplies pitched roof systems to the construction market.

DHL's 110,406 sq ft facility will become part of DHL’s network of last-mile hubs serving its customers across the South East, it reported.

Marley took a 9,945 sq ft design-and-build facility and Fowler Welch a 97,891 sq ft building, including a 1.5MVA photovoltaic array covering the roof, a car park canopy and cycle shelter. Both Marley and Fowler Welch signed long term leases before construction started.

Alex Mitchell, development manager, at Panattoni, had said: "The handing over of the three buildings marks another major milestone for our Aylesford development.

"We are determined to deliver on our promise to build a logistics and distribution park that is a benchmark for sustainability and a home for thousands of new jobs and expanding businesses."
