Netomnia announced that its full fibre network is being rolled out in Maidstone, Kent.

Netomnia will provide Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure to around 72,000 premises in Maidstone as part of an investment of up to £21 million in the area, delivering access to its robust and reliable broadband network, helping to future-proof and diversify the local economy.

The company’s latest announcement builds on its existing presence in Kent, having already started builds in Ashford, Gravesend and Canterbury, with an investment of up to £42 million in the area, targeting around 141,000 premises.

The company is partnering with Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) to roll out its broadband infrastructure in Maidstone, enabling speedy deployment using cutting-edge optical solutions.

Maidstone plays host to the largest office centre in the county of Kent, with many high-technology firms now established in the surrounding business parks. Access to a robust and reliable, ultrafast network will greatly benefit these businesses and will also attract new fast-growing companies to the area.

Alan O’Prey, Managing Director at Netomnia, commented: “Our latest investment in Kent will ensure around 72,000 premises have access to a reliable and ultrafast network, building on its already impressive growing talent in the area.

“We are building a full fibre broadband infrastructure faster than anyone else to level up the digital playing field and ensure residents and businesses can benefit for decades to come.”

Netomnia secured £123 million in funding to support its rollout strategy at the end of 2021 and aims to reach one million premises by 2023.

Netomnia makes wholesale connectivity available to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), building the infrastructure for their broadband services.

Its network supports symmetrical (equal upload and download speeds) multi-gigabit services up to 10 Gbps (10,000 Mbps) using XGS-PON technology.

This means ISPs using Netomnia’s network will be able to offer their customers reliable ultrafast speeds for decades to come.
