Mitie has won two new multimillion-pound contracts to provide the National Grid with hard and soft facilities management services across 260 operational sites and offices, including its Warwick HQ.

These services will involve engineering, planned and reactive maintenance, security, cleaning, and adverse weather provision such as gritting, among other tasks. Engineers from Mitie are to maintain the entirety of National Grid’s estate around the clock, 365 days a year.

National Grid will also benefit from Mitie’s ‘Science of Service’ technological initiative. Its mobile app, Merlin, provides workers with real time insights on relevant security issues, including updates from dedicated Security Analysts at Mitie’s Intelligence Security Operations Centre in Northampton.

In efforts to maintain a low carbon footprint, Mitie has designated a Plan Zero Energy Manager to conduct audits across National Grid sites and identify energy inefficiencies, with plans to use electric vehicles on the contracts wherever possible.

Prem Gabbi, Director of UK Land and Property at National Grid, said: “Working together with our supply chain, we are embedding a results-driven culture as we strive to continue delivering for our customers and achieving our ambitious targets around net zero and the clean energy transition.

“We look forward to strengthening this new relationship with Mitie as we provide each of our 6,500 UK colleagues with a modern, collaborative workplace experience in our offices, and enable wider National Grid to keep the lights on and the energy flowing for millions of British households.”
