Apprenticeships are on the up. Quickly becoming recognised as a leading method to upskill, apprenticeships are ideal not just for young people at the start of their career, but also for existing employees as businesses look to build a proficient and loyal workforce.

Go further with Fareham College

Leading with its innovative approach to apprenticeship training is Hampshire’s Fareham College. Pioneering new approaches to further education, the Ofsted outstanding college is continually investing in its apprenticeships provision to inspire and prepare its students for the business world.

Apprenticeships at Fareham College

Apprentices develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be successful in the workplace, enabling employees to gain nationally-recognised qualifications and competencies.

With its excellent business relationships, culminating from investment in its facilities and proactive employer engagement initiatives, Fareham College is at the forefront of apprenticeship delivery. The college is highly regarded within the regional business community, with a reputation for delivering bespoke apprenticeship programmes from its state-of-the-art facilities.

Using the levy

Fareham College offers apprenticeship training for young adults at the start of their careers as well as upskilling opportunities for those who might already be employed within a company. For the latter, employers can make use of their apprenticeship levy to support learning and development programmes, realise the professional development potential of their workforce, and improve productivity.

Employers can use the apprenticeship levy to upskill their workforce and levy-paying employers can share their annual levy fund and transfer up to a maximum of 25% to any other employer, or apprenticeship training agency.

Employer support

For employers, apprenticeships are an investment for the future: filling skills gaps to drive competitiveness and productivity, enhancing an organisation’s reputation for business, and showcasing the value that the organisation places on developing talent.

Fareham College provides a platform from which practical apprenticeship solutions can be applied for the mutual benefit of students and employers.

The college supports employers recruiting apprentices by looking at their strategic plans and training budgets and providing advice on how to use their levy to deliver training that supports their business ambitions.

Fareham College has extensive experience in supporting apprenticeship provision for employers. The college has worked with a range of employers including: South West Railways, Coopervision, Carnival UK, STS Defence and Apollo Fire; delivering specialist on the job training through to bespoke leadership and management programmes.

Unrivalled facilities

The academies and purpose-built training centres at Fareham College are designed to deliver a wide range of apprenticeships and professional development courses, in direct response to industry demands and skills shortages.

The new £4.1 million Civil Engineering Training Centre at Fareham College offers unique civil engineering apprenticeship programmes and professional training. This state-of-the-art facility is pioneering a change in the way in which construction industry training will be delivered, providing long-term support to this important sector.
