Kent’s Gusbourne Wines sales rise to £6.2 million
Kent based English winemaker Gusbourne saw an increase in sales last year amidst rising demands for UK brewed sparkling wines.
The winemaker, which owns vineyards in both Kent and West Sussex, said sales increased by 48 per cent to £6.2 million in the year just gone.
The company’s success is partly down to recently launched products including Fifty One Degrees North, a luxury sparkling wine.
Chief executive of Gusbourne Charlie Holland said: ‘’Despite the challenging macro-environmental backdrop there was considerable consumer demand for Gusbourne products.
‘’The quality of Gusbourne’s wines continue to gain praise and critical recognition, further cementing our excellent reputation.’’

In addition to a strong year of sales in 2022 Gusbourne also bought an extra 55 hectares of land. This purchase brings the company's total land ownership up to 196 hectares, most of which will be used to plant vineyards over the course of 2023.
Gusbourne, which hit £3 million in UK trade sales in 2022, are not the only Kent based winemakers enjoying the increased demand for UK made sparkling wines. Chapel Down, which has vineyards in Kent, said that exports of its wine had increased by 164 per cent. These numbers not only indicate a growing demand for English wines locally, but also overseas.
