Justin Tomlinson MP joins Barclays and Doubletree by Hilton Swindon to host business roundtable
North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has joined forces with Barclays and Doubletree by Hilton Swindon to hold a roundtable for customers and business leaders in Swindon.
The event on Friday (June 24) was attended by business people drawn from all sectors, including representatives from the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and Swindon & Wiltshire LEP, to discuss and highlight key national and regional business issues and priorities for the local business community.
Justin who was elected as North Swindon MP in 2010 and the deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, was introduced by Vikki Hemming, Barclays head of mid-corporate, Thames Valley and welcomed by Andy Gelleburn, general manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Swindon.
Attendees took the opportunity to provide a steer on their priorities, raising issues such as staff resourcing, inefficiencies with government departments, the impact of the rail strike, cost of living challenge, energy crisis, and lack of focus on inward investment for Swindon town.
Commenting on the event, Justin Tomlinson MP said: “The appetite of local businesses to build back better was clear to see.
"The Swindon economy is strong, diverse and ambitious and with the support of both the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and Barclays I have no doubt we will continue to see new jobs and opportunities being created.”
Vikki Hemming added: “The business roundtable was a great opportunity to bring together customers, representatives of the local business community and the local MP to discuss hot topics and what’s on their minds.
“What was clear is the passion and commitment around the table, locally businesses have a strong desire for growth and despite the challenging times we are currently operating there was a genuine feeling of confidence around the room.”
