InstaVolt non-exec director Thompson up for prestigious award
Dorothy Thompson, non-executive director at Basingstoke-based InstaVolt, has been nominated for a prestigious award for her contribution at the electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
The non-executive director awards are sponsored by Santander Corporate & Investment Banking and recognise those who have made various contributions as board members, including to an organisation's strategy and when it comes to overcoming challenges.

Thompson has worked with large PLCs such as Rotork and Eaton Corporation and took up her position at InstaVolt in November 2022. Between 2005 and 2017, she was chief executive at Yorkshire-based power generator Drax Group.
For eight years until 2022 she was a non-exec director on the Court of the Bank of England, and in 2013, she was appointed a Commander of the British Empire.
"Our non-executive directors are fundamental to the growth of our business, as they’re able to independently check and scrutinise, while providing shrewd business insight from working across various industries," said Adrian Pike, chairman at InstaVolt.
"Despite having been on the board for less than two years, Dorothy has already made a valuable impact, sharing her experiences and insights into energy procurement and sustainability; challenging and inspiring the management team whilst supporting our goals to become the largest charge point operator in Europe.
"We look forward to continuing our working relationship with her as part of our board."
Thompson added: "I'm honoured to be recognised in the non-executive director awards for my work with InstaVolt.
"The future of EV adoption is fundamental to supporting our country’s goals to reach net zero, and I am delighted to form part of InstaVolt’s ambitions to accelerate its roll out of innovative and reliable infrastructure across the UK and Europe."
Instavolt owns, installs, and maintains rapid EV charging units nationwide. Land owners can earn a rental income by housing them, while EV drivers can access public charging.
Its chargers are powered using 100% renewable energy and the company says there is no need for people to sign up and no subscription required.
